This is a compilation of pictures from outings during our last weekends in Vancouver. Looking at all the wonderful places and beauty of the area makes me homesick for the life we had there.
Rocky Point is a park in Port Moody that was about 5 minutes from our house. Huge green spaces for playing in the summer, Pajo's fish & chips, Boathouse restaurant, ice-cream shop, water park, play ground, boat launch and pier were all surrounded by a network of walking and biking trails around Burrard inlet. Allison took these pictures when she and Molly were playing one morning...
The tube slide was always a favorite.
The Maple Leaf flying over the park.
You might be suprised to know that there are many palm trees in Vancouver...
Posing on the bench....
Catching a smile...
Stanley Park, just north of the city center was a family favorite. You could bike around the sea-wall, ride the train, visit the aquarium, or just spend a day on the beach. We took a sunny Saturday to do some hiking and have a picnic lunch.
We hiked over to beaver lake to see the animals.... Owen and his hood. I think he would live with his hood on year round if we let him.
Heron in the water
Why they call it beaver lake... :)
Molly and I... she wanted to ride in the beginning because she was "soooooo tired"
Playing in the water.
Scratching trails in the dirt.
Out of the backpack on her own.
Not an unusual site in the park... a large tree, growing out of an even larger stump.
One of the Lions at the overpass before the Lion's gate bridge.
Owen watching cars.
It is a beautiful bridge, even more spectacular at night with the lights
Owen and Allison inside a tree!
Not sure of the variety of perrenial, but they were pretty with the blooms bowing down to face the earth.
All of us at Prospect point. It was windy!
With the climate and the rain, they grow some serious trees!
The lookout stop on the road up Cyprus Mountain offers an expansive view of the BC Lower Mainland. Here, you can see Mt. Baker clearly on the horizon in the left side of the picture. I believe that the peak further in the distance is Mt. Rainer. Both peaks are in the Cascade range in the state of Washington.
North Vancouver is in the foreground, Stanley Park is in the center and the city of Vancouver is in the center background. Here you can see Lion's gate bridge connecting Stanley Park with North Van.
Molly was sleeping in the car at this point. Here's one happy Owen with Allison.
Where exactly are we going?
Panoramic view.....
